• In collaboration with interested parties, I produced and submitted the design safety equivalence to IMO, to permit BW LPG be the first company to retrofit their (pre 2016 IGC code) vessels main engines to run LPG, drastically reducing their OPEX, turnaround times and CO2 emissions.
• I still develop the maritime sector within the Isle of Man, presenting a fuel technologies talk at the local IMarEST branch which was well received.
• I’ve consulted for the UK MCA in connection with the IGF code revision and bulk cargoes.
• Following my investigation of a major marine casualty – my report recommendations brought about changes to the IMSBC code schedules (which determine how specific cargoes are safely carried) for Ammonium Nitrate Based Fertilisers and the MSC circular (giving safety advice) for these particularly heat sensitive cargoes.
• I’ve created and co-ordinated voluntary working groups at sub-committee level and have worked very closely with industry experts to produce both input and output at IMO.
• I’ve chaired two working groups in connection with the 2011 TDC code revision, getting international delegates working effectively in the limited time available to produce valuable outcomes for adoption.
• I earn the respect of the people I deal with, at all levels of the industry, through the way I work and interact with them.
• I developed remote survey techniques as a result of having to adapt to the impact of COVID
